Transitional protection

When the lifetime and annual allowances were introduced, special rules were brought in to make sure that no one is worse off than they were previously. This is called transitional protection.

To qualify for transitional protection, you must register your pension benefits with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) before 5th April 2009.  We have already written to you about this if we believe you have need to register your benefits.
