Retiring early
You can retire from age 50, provided you have at least two years' qualifying service
and you were a member of the scheme on 10 December 2003. Your pension is calculated in the same way as if you retired at normal retirement age, using your pensionable service up to your early retirement age. However, it will be reduced for early payment.
If you are, or have been in Pension+, your Pension+ pension will only be reduced for early payment if you retire before age 60.
If you joined the scheme after 10 December 2003, you will only be able to retire from age 55 from 2010.
